Deadpool is an R-rated American superhero / action comedy movie franchise based on the Marvel Comics character with the same name. The first movie was released on February 8, 2016. It was a big hit that broke box office records all over the world and has an overall score of 8/10 on IMDb. On May 18, 2018 Deadpool 2 will be released.
One of the reasons Deadpool was so successful is the unconventional viral marketing campaign. It wasn’t like any other regular movie campaign where they show some spots and a trailer but the marketing team managed to break the “fourth-wall”. In other words they managed to make the audience feel like the character was talking to them instead of just seeing a tv spot.
One of the unconventional campaign ideas was creating Deadpool his very own Tinder profile. No movie has ever done this before so it sure raised some eyebrows and made people talk about it. Below you can see some screenshots of the Tinder profile.
A good example of Deadpool breaking the so called fourth wall is the tv spot that was made for the holiday season before the movie came out.
